Ashimi Olawale Ibrahim was Born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1986. He is the only child of a carpenter (dad) and a petty trader (mum). He grew up in Okokomaiko, Lagos where like most ghetto kids, opportunities were hard and despite growing up in a house where there wasn’t a tv, he still managed to find a way in becoming an artiste.. Amidst all the hardship, his parents ensured that he got a very good upbringing and the necessary education- he attended the following schools: Aganju primary school Okokomaiko, Lagos- 1990-1997 Ajangbadi high school 1997-2003 In 1999, while in secondary school, young Olawale discovered his musical gifts by writing his 1st chorus; He was barely 14yrs old at the time. In 2002 he got together with 4 other friends (Ademola, Tunik, Bright, and David) to form a group called ALIENS (David would later leave and be replaced by Reginald. Brymo played a very important part as a member of the group – writing and composing songs. In a period of two yrs, he wrote over 85 songs. The group recorded its 1st single in the later part of 2003 and though the outcome couldn’t have been said to be professional, it was a first single anyway). In 2005, the group disbanded as some members went on to school. Brymo gained admission into Lagos State University in 2007 to study Zoology, but after 2 years, he left due to financial issues. By this time, Brymo had moved on to a solo carrier, recording his 1st single later that year. In 2007 He came in contact with a local talent manager who helped him record his debut Album “Brymstone” which scored a major hit “Shawdy“. In 2008, Brymo went on to shoot a video for the hit single and got much airplay nationwide and even on MTV Base. It made its way up to No1 on the Nigezee Top10 video countdown and No2 spot on the MTV Base African Top 10 countdown. It got him a nomination at the 2009 Soundcity Music Video Awards for “Best animation and graphics“.Brymo went silent after this until the Chocolate City music Label got a wiff of his vocals. In 2010, Brymo hooked with Nigerian sensational Rapper M.I, whom later introduced him to Jesse Jagz and Iceprince ushering him into chocolate city music label. It didn’t take long for him to make an impact, 1st getting on Jesse Jagz‘ “Jag of all trades” on the beautiful track “Luv U” and then killing the females on the hook of Iceprince‘s monster hit “Oleku” before ending 2010 on MI’s “Action Film“.
