Munachi Abii (born Munachi Gail Teresa Abii Nwankwo) - now simply known as Muna - is a Nigerian rap / hip-hop artiste, songwriter, and model Early life Born and raised in Port Harcourt, Muna was brought up by her single mother who had been disabled by polio, but family influences in music and participation in the performing arts at school encouraged her to pursue her lifelong passion for music and arts. After obtaining her O'Level qualifications from Federal Government Girls College Abuloma[citation needed], she lived in the United Kingdom with her father for a few years before gaining admission into the Benson Idahosa University to study International relations and Diplomacy. MBGN During her second year at University in 2007, Muna shot to celebrity status when she fulfilled her childhood dream by participating in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant. During her reign, her projects were polio and Sickle cell. The Owerri native also represented Nigeria at Miss World in China later that year. Muna has since graduated from university, and served as a youth corper in Rivers State.In 2009, Muna worked with MBGN 2000 winner Matilda Kerry on a project to raise awareness on cervical cancer. Music Prior to winning MBGN, Muna had performed as part of Port Harcourt-based rap group Ijaw Boyz, and collaborated with Terry The Rapman on the critically-acclaimed "My PH Girl".As a solo artist, she performed as Babyrella before changing her stage name to Muna. As a songwriter, she has written songs for artistes such as J Martins and Waje, and has also appeared in music videos such as P Square's "Ifunnaya". In June 2010, after years of collaborating with various artistes including M.I., Jesse Jagz, Banky W., Ikechukwu (Killz), Dipp, Kel, Blaise, eLDee the Don, Capital Hill and Michael Word, Muna signed a multi-year management contract with the Ayo Shonaiya-led RMG Company, and is currently recording songs in Nigeria, Europe and America for her yet-to-be titled album to be released in 2011.
