Eight-time gold medalist Usain Bolt has tested positive for corona-virus. The Jamaican Ministry of Health confirmed on Monday that he contracted the virus.
Prior to the confirmation, the star athlete on Friday celebrated his 34th birthday in a grand style, also mask-free. He labeled the celebration "Best Birthday Ever" on social media in a picture of him holding his daughter, Olympia Lightening Bolt.
On Monday he also posted before the ministry's confirmation that he had gotten tested on Saturday and was awaiting his test results.
"Just to be safe, I quarantined myself and just taking it easy," he said.
He also shared that although he has no COVID-19 symptoms he was keeping away from his friends.
Bolt, who retired as a sprinter in 2017, is also known as the fastest man alive. He remains the only sprinter to win 100m and 200m golds at 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympics consecutively.
His fans while commenting on his social media post, shared their support, and wished him a quick recovery.
